Located on the Rue St Honore in the 1st arrondissement, La Regalade is the highly regarded gastro-bistro from Chef Bruno Doucet. The menu is 3-course pre fixe with multiple choices per course. Instead of serving butter with the bread, we were given a country pate in it’s place. A jar of pickles was served along with the pate. This was a nice change to the standard bread and butter. The pate was extremely rich and delicious. To start my wife ordered the chilled asparagus with a poached egg and herb vinaigrette. I ordered the braised Morel mushrooms with baby turnips and petit peas. The ingredient quality of both dishes was exceptional. For our mains my wife ordered the beef served two ways: roasted skirt steak and a braised beef cannelloni. I ordered the roasted veal sirloin with stuffed portobello mushroom and potato mousseline. For dessert my wife ordered the vanilla rice pudding with caramel sauce and I ordered the cheese selection which was a blue cheese from the southwest of France. To drink we started with a glass of Champagne each. With the mains my wife got a glass of Beaujolais and I got a glass of St Emilion.
